Frequently asked questions
Answers about IPTV source support, direct playback, browser compatibility, privacy and self-hosting Portal Heaven.
Does Portal Heaven include IPTV content?
No. It is a player. You must supply a compatible source that you are authorized to use.
Do streams pass through Portal Heaven?
Direct playback is preferred. Some sources cannot play directly because of browser or provider restrictions. An operator may enable a compatibility relay for those cases.
Why does a stream work in an STB but not a browser?
Browsers enforce CORS, mixed-content, codec and response-security rules that native set-top-box clients may not enforce. Some providers also bind generated URLs to an IP address or device session.
Can I self-host it?
Yes. See the self-hosting overview and project repository.
Which browsers are supported?
Current Chromium, Firefox and Safari releases are the primary targets. Actual media support depends on codecs provided by the browser and operating system.
